I need some help with two failures my pc reported back to me, but that I don’t know how to verify, therefore what it is or how to fix it.

1st >> When I turn off my system (it doesn’t happen when rebooting), both in Garuda and on Pop!OS I get again the plymouth screen with the initial info from when I booted up and then it pops up for half a sec some new three lines, from which I could only grasp

failed to unmount system, ignoring

It shuts down normally besides that, that message have been popping up for a few days now without any practical issues for me, and I’m only having time to deal with it now.

2nd >> I finally started using Htop as an alternative to monitor my system’s stuff, and I didn’t know how much fun it was xD but while setting it up and experimenting, on the “Systemd state” meter, it appeared “degraded (1/380 failed)”.
I thought this could be related to the shuting down issue and went to see if the same feedback appeared on Pop!OS, it doesn’t. So I guess this is Garuda related? But it could still be related to the 1st failure, so I thought it would be nice to put it under this same post.

That’s it, apart the failures being reported to me, again, I didn’t notice any practical issues and everything is “working fine”.

Sorry for any inconvenience

I don’t actually know if the forum could help me with these matters, since i have no idea what they are, I’m sorry if it’s not a pertinent issue to the Garuda comunnity.

Thanks for reading,
Thanks for all and any help!

I've been getting some similar behavior at shut-down lately too (but couldn´t grasp any of the errors messages). Not having any noticeable problem though, just the messages themselves.

I'm not that knowledgeable about it, but think It might be useful for someone to assist to share the output of systemctl --failed and journal -p 3 -b.

To see if our situation matches I'll share mine, respectively:

systemctl --failed

Hi, smoky! Thanks, I never remember the command to see this kind of logs. The failed stuff follows below.

Aditionally, I filmed the shutdown and paused on the errors, it says:

62.278747] sd-unmoun[2461]: Failed to unmount /oldroot: Device or resource busy
62.280200] sd-unmoun[2462]: Failed to unmount /oldroot/sys: Device or resource busy
62.201001] shutdown[1]: Failed to finalize file systems, ignoring.

(I’m changing the issue’s title so it can be better tailored)

The failed results based on ninio’s feedback:

systemctl --failed

I couldn’t find any matches between mine’s and ninio’s feedback, nor any line related to the message I get while shutindown… but could it be the bluetooth the thing that failed in systemd according to htop readings?

yes this is why htop show degraded if u not need bluetooth autoconect u can disable it … after a reboot u will see in htop no more degaded . u can disable it in Garuda assistent -system components - bluetooth

sorry for the other problems i have no idea (im still a noob  ) but maybee some other can help

Well, thanks smoky. I suppose this is very much the solution :3

1 out of 2 is done, and that is the important thing. Maybe I'll try researching a little more on the first issue since this post got a little cold xD

Alright, I did some research on failed to remove /oldboot, it's possibly a systemd x nvidia thingy with ofc no solution, but no actual problem

As there is no solution to problem n1, I'm marking the solution of problem n2 as 'it' to close the topic.
