I don’t develop Lutris or even use it much, so I can’t really help you with that . Others seem to be having issues with it with ROMs as well Lutris Can't identify roms . Might be something you need to report to the Lutris developers?

All I can say is that you are probably better off to just use RetroArch so you can load up what core you need instead of relying on Lutris to figure it out.
