Strange problem since a week or more, (due to updates ?), i cant connect anymore to an external screen with wifi, at school where i’m a teacher.

Normaly i can connect to the screen with a wifi connection, and using gnome-network displays, and choose the number of the classroom (bit like miracast system).

I’m using network manager to connect to the wifi and i can use internet without any problem. I tried t3 different wifi connection for intenet and all 3 are working well.

After a moment i have a message saying : WI-Fi P2P Peer deactivated and autorisation failed because of time.

What could have change with last updates ? Using the same way for monthes without a problem…

I dont know where to search… If you have an idea for me…

Use a working snapshot and check the log of garuda-update, but do not update.
One of the apps will be the culprit.

Hey,

I tried all the available snapshots, but with no luck…

I think the problem is a bit older… May be the problem is with gnome-network-displays… I cant find something for kde.

I have read that there are problem with waland but not with X11.
During my searches, i have read something about Pipewire, but it’s too hard for me…

I can’t really help, could it be that M$ Win11 has corrupted a module?
So try turning off all fastboot stuff there, and not rebooting from M$, but shutting down the OS completely.

You are right this is probably a gnome-network-displays bug.
This open bug report is a year old with sadly no resolution and has the same issue you describe.

Tried that too… Fastboot and other stuffs are off.
Have to go back to MS, to have it usable again…
Not my day, just saying every time, to the students, that Garuda is much much better than MS… :joy:

Thanks NaN, not a good news anyway…
Strange thing that it worked perfectly before a couple of weeks…

Not really the best advice but you can look at alternatives while you wait to find a fix for this to work. It just sounds like the feature is important to your work and the finding the fix to this might take a while.

That’s what i’m trying to do, but it seems there is nothing like gnome-network-display… I found nothing for KDE for example…

Now i’m just praying that MS is not my only solution :joy: :joy: :joy:

Just joking but… I wouldn’t rule out a classroom prank.

Seriously, maybe try miraclecast or some other alternative, who knows.

Not really a very likely thing to happen just a shot in the dark but can you try to create a new user account, log into it and see if that changes anything? If it doesn’t you can just delete it.

A new user account will have the default configs so if this is a simple config issue we can eliminate it.

Can you imagine a poor 61 years old geek/teacher saying that Linux is the only way to freedom… :innocent: :innocent: :innocent:

Have to try that the next day i’m goging there.

Maybe check if dnsmasq is (still) installed:

Dont know if it can help…

Have you tried rebuilding the package?
I see it has as dependencies several packages which are much newer that its last update.
Do not reinstall it from Chaotic-AUR but build it with e.g.:

paru gnome-network-displays

Which one do you think i have to use ?

I’d say 2.
If that doesn’t work, you could then try 3 (the most current version under development).

Strange… I installed again number 2 (0.90.5-7) and immediately after that, garuda-update told me to install the new version (0.90.5-7.3
