Everything full screen = black screen seconds

Watching any video (e.g YouTube), or playing a game (e.g HL2 native), or even a presentation in Impress makes the screen go Black for 1-2 secs every minute or so. Kills me every time

I have searched the forum, but results relate to new install issues - my system is >1 year old.

Same like

?

Or:
Did you search in Games & Emulators?

Yeah , I searched the whole site.
Problem isnā€™t just browser, itā€™s games e.g. HL2 native too.

Bit more info: I get the same black screen problem watching a 2 slide Impress presentation on loop. So basically everything full screen causes this issue. I also did a full update. Noticed a boot message re. Secure Display, but too quick to record. Can I provide more info?

Check about in

sudo dmesg | less | grep 'error|warning'

or

sudo dmesg | less
1 Like

I watched a YT vid full screen and after a couple of glitches I ran the suggested commands.
The first command
sudo dmesg | less | grep 'error|warning'
Produced nothing (no output).
The 2nd command
sudo dmesg | less
Produced this (edited to last few lines):

I see there are some lines relating to amdgpu; is that a clue? OOM monitor is also mentioned but Iā€™m running at only 10Gb out of 16Gb so donā€™t think thatā€™s a prob.

Let me know what other info I can provide.
Cheers.
