Displaylink installation fails

I'm trying to install Displaylink Linux driver for the Dell docking station by using Add/Remove Software app, and the installation gets stuck with the following error:

Thanks for the quick reply! I’m VERY new to Garuda (i’ve being using Linux Mint for several years), so I need some more guidance on how to post questions on this forum. After I read your comments, I still have questions:

 • Was a format (copied text and not a screen shot) of the error information correct?

 • Instead of posting my question here, do I have to send a Bug Report or the Reporting bugs should be done in addition to the post here?

How/where/what app do I need to use to get that information?

Thank you.

Like in Mint, terminal, maybe clear with #?

# inxi -Fxxxza

or

$ inxi -Fxxxza

or is this root?

Maybe must be more specific in wiki???

Please start with answers…

Yes, I did, but didn’t find an answer.

I was using the Add/Remove Software app. I found Displaylink drivers there, ran installation that hot stuck in the middle with the error message I copied in my initial post here.

I wasn’t using Terminal, I did it in Add/Remove Software.

As in, type this into terminal and post output.

Yes, I’ve read, but I can’t find answers there.

WTH you do not post the inxi?

Note: Displaylink 5.4 needs evdi 1.9. evdi 1.9.0 is NOT compatible with kernel >= 5.11.

I am out.

Someone on that site suggested to use the installer created for Ubuntu. I’ve tried it with a such result:

[andrey@andrey-inspiron77062n1 ~]$ sudo /home/andrey/Downloads/displaylink-driver-5.4.0-55.153.run
[sudo] password for andrey:
Verifying archive integrity... 100% All good.
Uncompressing DisplayLink Linux Driver 5.4.0-55.153 100%
DisplayLink Linux Software 5.4.0-55.153 install script called:
Distribution discovered: "Garuda Linux"
Unsatisfied dependencies. Missing component: libdrm.
This is a fatal error, cannot install DisplayLink Linux Software.

Next time you use .exe or some macOS files?

Solved! "This was fixed by running sudo pamac build displaylink instead of using the pamac GUI."

This topic is going nowhere. And as the user already decided to go to another distro, it is pointless to have this thread open.
