Why is the standard installation
is executed in dark mode and not in white mode.
It is disturbing when
the entire background is displayed in black, incl.
mail client etc.
Why don’t you programme the
white mode by default ?
Where can I set the dark mode to white mode?
I can’t find a parameter under settings -
It is very confusing for users
Can’t the developers programme the standard -
not everyone needs the dark mode ,
or wants this graveyard look - For mobile use possibly.
possibly favourable -
but rather counterproductive on the desktop
I absolutely hated dark themes when I was young. Now that I’m older I can’t use a computer without dark mode because of eye sensitivity.
As already mentioned you can theme KDE and most other DE’s in whatever color scheme that you want. This isn’t Windows, Linux can usually be tweaked to however you want it to appear.
Even if we wanted to explain how to do that, we cant, because you did not post your garuda-inxi as required on our forum. Without your inxi output we have no idea which desktop you are whining about not being to your liking.
This is a technical support forum. The forum is here to help users troubleshoot major problems with their system. The forum is not here to explain how to use Linux or how a particular desktop works. That is something the user is expected to do for themselves. Try using a search engine, or watch some YouTube videos if you want to learn how to theme your desktop in Linux.
Here’s some tips on how to search for answers to your questions:
The issue is modern light themes are not light themes they are pure white themes. Unlike anything windows 7 or Mac os snow leopard and prior they have no gradients, tint, or off whites or anything. Its really really hard on the eyes long term.
Now there are some themes like this but they are more retro or you as the user have to modify them. Which is something I do when in the mood for a light theme.
But it will never be a modern flat pure white light theme with some inconsequential accent colors.
You can find some you might like here for most of the main stream DE’s https://www.pling.com/
