DaVinci Resolve 17 Doesn't start at all

Hello, I'm having problems getting DaVinci Resolve 17 running, I'm installing chaotic-aur/davinci-resolve, and tried with pacman and yay but still get this output :

ActCCMessage Already in Table: Code= c005, Mode= 13, Level= 1, CmdKey= -1, Option= 0 ActCCMessage Already in Table: Code= c006, Mode= 13, Level= 1, CmdKey= -1, Option= 0 ActCCMessage Already in Table: Code= c007, Mode= 13, Level= 1, CmdKey= -1, Option= 0 ActCCMessage Already in Table: Code= 2282, Mode= 0, Level= 0, CmdKey= 8, Option= 0 PnlMsgActionStringAdapter Already in Table: Code= 615e, Mode= 0, Level= 0, CmdKey= -1, Option= 0 log4cxx: No appender could be found for logger (BtCommon). log4cxx: Please initialize the log4cxx system properly.

I've followed every thread there is to try to fix this, including the archwiki, but to no avail.

I've uninstalled opencl-mesa and tried installing lib32-ocl-icd and ocl-icd but both were already installed.

Sometimes it does start, but just hangs with no actual gui, just terminal output, other times it just crashes instantly, too with no gui.

Here is my garuda-inxi:

Have you tried KDEnlive? It is well worth it and cost is nothing.

any errors show up when you run 'ldd /opt/resolve/bin/resolve' ? for me the issue was missing libcrypt.so.1 which was fixed by installing this package Arch Linux - libxcrypt-compat 4.4.28-2 (x86_64)

Firstly, remove it from yay or any other source, and install from pacman (that is through chaotic AUR). Then try

sudo chown -R $YOUR_USER_NAME build/bin

Well, I tried, and sadly, had to opt for proprietary path, because kdenlive is lacking a lots and lots of advance features, that I need. It is one of very few proprietary softwares on my Laptop. There is no alternative to davinci resolve at all in Linux, if you want some really good edits. :disappointed:

( I am not promoting davinci resolve though, it is just my personnel experience )

Thanks for the suggestion, yes i have, it doesnt handle 4k footage very well, and doesnt use my gpu effectively. Ive tried like 4 editors already.

I have it installed through pacman, and thanks for the suggestion, ill try it ASAP, and get back to you.

EDIT: What do you mean by build/bin, resolve/bin? Because there’s no build/bin in opt/resolve.

Thanks, ill try that too, and get back.

EDIT: Doesn’t look like it. This is the output:

Have you set it manually?

Also, check this

It is a pretty handy script. Try running it and pasting output here. Also, if you are booting into hybrid mode, switch to nvidia only mode

I dont think i enabled it manually, is it a problem? and yes i already used that script, says everything's fine. And im booting and nvidia only

That’s strange

Can you retry running from terminal and posting again?

DaVinci Resolve checker 2.6.0
Installed DaVinci Resolve package: davinci-resolve 17.4.5-1
Chassis type: laptop
Installed OpenCL drivers: intel-compute-runtime lib32-opencl-nvidia opencl-mesa opencl-nvidia
Presented GPUs:
HD Graphics 630 (kernel driver in use: i915)
GP107M [GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Mobile] (kernel driver in use: nvidia)
OpenGL vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation

You should uninstall opencl-mesa. Otherwise DR (v17.1.1) behaves wrong: image is corrupted. But if you uncheck gpu checkbox in settings and relaunch DR, then even entire desktop session becomes corrupted and you only can reboot your pc. This is observed at least on amd gpu.

Here you go, I uninstalled opencl-mesa before and it still didnt work.

What is output of

pacman -Qe opencl-mesa

After rebooting?

opencl-mesa 21.3.7-2

To clarify, i uninstalled it, rebooted, it didn't work, so i installed it back just to be sure isn't missing to anything

So, Uninstall it, reboot, rerun both davinci resolve and checker and post output here.

Sure, i can do that as soon as im home, but i can bet you that it wont't change anything and the output of the checker will be that everything is fine :joy:.

If there are configuration files left on your computer from a prior install of DaVinci, etc., you are likely correct. It’s that way with a lot of applications, Linux or Windows, so it’s something to always check on.

All seems good. You should be able to run DaVinci Resolve successfully.

Heres the output.

And heres davinci resolve:

Didnt quit this time but didnt start.

Also i should mention that the actual configurator when you first start davinci resolve, did open up when i first ran it like 2 days ago, but nothing happens now.

So ive managed to get the log4cxx error to disappear by using the installer downloaded from the official davinci website.

now this is the output im getting.. still nothing starts though.

Its wrecking my nerves because i need to finish a video for a project, and i really dont want to use a VM. :weary:

Is there a flatpack version available which may help?

Try removing all the davinci configs

@Naman How do i do that?

Also @TilliDie thats a good question, im currently omw to school, so im gonna get back to you about this one.. EDIT: Okay turns out, as far as i know, there is no flatpak

EDIT: I remember some guy on a forum saying that you need to install (not sure) xorg or something, but he wasnt on plasma but on some weird DE. Managed to find the thread, this is it

But i never tried this as i dont want to have 2 DEs and switch around
