Copy / Paste Issue

Hello Garuda forums!

I appear to be having an issue on Garuda (haven't tested on other distros) where when I copy from the chat in Team Fortress 2 and paste it into any program, it either takes a very long time or the program just freezes and will not unfreeze until I close and reopen it.

I'm on KDE Dragonized and haven't changed anything fundamentally about the OS.

Any help would be appreciated, ty!

Read "Reporting bugs"
Define Fundamental.
Ask the chat developer.

Hi! Thanks for the response. I couldn't seem to find "Reporting bugs" anywhere but I would love to read it if I am doing something wrong, as I said I'm completely new to the Garuda forums! Could you link it to me? By "fundamental" I mean that I did not change anything such as the DE, kernel, or anything like that. Unfortunately, I cannot ask the chat dev as Team Fortress 2 was developed in 2007 (but has native Linux support). However, I could try to e-mail Valve Support and try to get in contact with a developer. I couldn't find this issue anywhere online either, unfortunately. It seems that when I paste it into Kate, it is fine, but when pasted into any other program, it crashes or freezes. Could this be a mismatch of fonts maybe?

Ok  full throttle

Probably this issue is related either to how this game handles clipboard, and/or how your clipboard manager reacts to this. In the first case I have no idea how to help you besides what was already proposed - reporting a bug.
In the second case, you need to find out which clipboard manager you are using and try replacing it. Easiest way to do this is executing

pacman -Qs clipboard

It should list whatever packages with a word “clipboard” you have on your system. Try others that you might find through your AUR helper like paru. In case of paru:

paru -i clipboard

This will search & prompt you to choose what packages with the word “clipboard” you want to install.
Try also the -git version of your clipboard manager, maybe it was fixed already.

Btw, @false I have an advise. It sadly won't solve this issue, but is a good workaround, because I think that it is something wrong with game and we might not be able to fix it.

So, why don't you use online image to text converters. Just take screenshot of the chat and use image to text converters or something like reverse image lookup, it will hardly take you 5 minutes.

Ty for the fixes/solutions! I will try to use a different clipboard manager and see if it makes a difference. I could also try to use the image to text converter as Naman said. I will report back if changing the clipboard manager works.
