Conflicting Files

i was going to run an update and i had an issue come up , i found some anwsers here on jonathon’s post about Failing to commiit transaction (conflicting files)

my errors:

error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
python-viv-utils: /usr/bin/get_function_args exists in filesystem (owned by python
2-viv-utils)
python-viv-utils: /usr/bin/trace_function_emulation exists in filesystem (owned by
python2-viv-utils)
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

following instructions i traced down the package to

╭─rick@rickshit in ~ took 6s
[🔴] × pacman -Qo /usr/bin/get_function_args
/usr/bin/get_function_args is owned by python2-viv-utils 0.3.17-1

╭─rick@rickshit in ~ took 263ms
╰─λ pacman -Qo /usr/bin/trace_function_emulation
/usr/bin/trace_function_emulation is owned by python2-viv-utils 0.3.17-1

one question i have is can this be removed? ive looked through the wiki on these and honestly im not sure their total function ,

the next command i followed

╭─rick@rickshit in ~ took 6s

all in all is this something i can delete?

Thanks for any help or links!!!

Make sure that a working snapshot is available.
If it fails, restore it.

As always, Timeshift is not a backup solution, so back up important data separately.

Thank you!
ill remove this and try again.

didnt even get to try out my timeshift

╭─rick@rickshit in ~
╰─λ sudo pacman -R python2-viv-utils
[sudo] password for rick:

error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: removing python2-viv-utils breaks dependency 'python2-viv-utils' required by flare-floss

^^

Just boot from grub last snapshot, if it boot, fine.
Reboot normal and use overwrite.

i have rebooted from 2 different timeshifts and neither would overwrite.. the timeshift i am on now wont eve let me upgrade

╭─rick@rickshit in ~ took 46ms

Boot from snapshot was only test if you can go back!

So, reboot (no snap) and try :crossed_fingers:

if you're sure a package manager is not already
  running, you can remove /var/lib/pacman/db.lck

so i ran the following command

sudo rm -r /var/lib/pacman/db.lck

now i get this when doing the overwrite:

does this have anything to do with the server maintenance being down at the moment?
