I’m very new to the Linux environment but have a programming background (mostly coming from Windows), so I’m familiar with commands but still adjusting to how things work in Linux.
When using Garuda Dr460nized (latest version), I noticed:
Pressing Meta/Win + V opens the clipboard history, but clicking an item does not paste it directly into the current text field. Instead, I have to edit it, copy it again, and then manually paste, which is frustrating.
Meta/Win + . opens the emoji picker, but instead of inserting the emoji directly, it just copies it, requiring an extra paste step.
What I’ve Tried
Checked the web/forums but couldn’t find a clear fix.
Tried getting help from ChatGPT and tested several suggested fixes (like killing Klipper and trying alternative clipboard managers), but none worked.
Tried killing Klipper (killall klipper), but it says “no process found.”
Tried alternative clipboard managers, but the issue remains.
Expected Behavior
On Windows, both clipboard history and emoji picker insert the selected item directly into the active text field. Is there a way to achieve this on Garuda KDE?
Would appreciate any help! Let me know if any logs or additional info are needed.
Since this behavior seems to be common in Arch-based KDE setups, I was wondering if there is any known way to configure clipboard history (or the emoji picker) to paste directly upon selection, without requiring an extra Ctrl+V? I’ve tried a few things, but I’m still stuck with this extra step.
As a former Windows user, I’m used to the direct pasting behavior, and I find the extra step a bit inefficient. Sorry if this sounds lazy, but I’m wondering if there’s any setting or script that could make this more seamless in Garuda KDE.
From time to time, I try Linux over and over because it just seems better for some reason, but these small issues make me reconsider. I really want to make it work but sometimes get discouraged by the little frustrations.
You can’t always please everyone.
Maybe there are people (in KDE) who don’t want it to be added immediately, but want to have the option to change it first?
I really appreciate engaging in discussions like this with like-minded individuals. I completely agree that
you can’t always please everyone
and I wasn’t trying to insist that it should be changed just for me. But having an option or setting to modify this behavior would be great. As far as I know, there’s no way to tweak it currently, but I’d love to see it as a possibility in the future, or maybe even some workarounds in the meantime.
Yes, it works! I didn’t know about this, but it’s definitely a better option for the time being.
The clipboard is just a KDE widget, you can simply install a clipboard manager of your choice if the one installed by default does not meet your requirements - there are several for Linux.
