Fixed, thanks for reporting.
That explains quite a lot. Thanks for taking a deeper look than me
could we get a rebuild of ungoogled-chromium ? it was broken in the icu update. ie “todays” update to icu (74.2-2 → 75.1-1)
Finished making: ungoogled-chromium 125.0.6422.60-1 (Mon 20 May 2024 05:29:09 AM CEST)
octopi got updated for the ones that want it its on 0.16.0 on the aur
It’s available again via Chaotic-AUR, see more at
Even the kde global menu now works with octopi
The current ProtonVPN packages are out of date and no longer maintained by the Proton team. These packages in the Chaotic AUR are: protonvpn-cli, protonvpn-gui, and python-protonvpn-nm-lib. The newest version on the AUR was updated with the python3.12 packages by maintainer ali.molaei. The main package is proton-vpn-gtk-app, along with about 9 python-proton-vpn-… dependencies. There is one more dependency from the ‘extra’ repository that is not listed on the AUR page, network-manager-applet.
What an unfortunate series of events…
- Upstream for CLI is now archived: GitHub - ProtonVPN/linux-cli: Official ProtonVPN Linux app (CLI)
- They propose that someone work for them to help maintain it and link to a job description, very unamusing: AUR (en) - protonvpn-gui
- They also link to this Reddit post of the same information: https://old.reddit.com/r/ProtonVPN/comments/17clwac/new_protonvpn_linux_app_on_arch/k5r1qdg/
Due to there no longer being a trustable source for builds, I’ve dropped this from Chaotic-AUR. I hope they can get it together, be it through donated effort, or hiring someone to maintain their packages. It can be added again in the future if it works properly. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Short term solution:
- How to manually configure WireGuard on Linux
- How to manually configure OpenVPN in Linux - ProtonVPN Support
Long term solution:
Any reason to not use the proton-vpn-gtk-app from the AUR?
Stability is questionable. There are a lot of deps there too, which Chaotic-AUR probably won’t build in the near future. Feel free to try if you want to!
I’m using that version and works as it should
Mullvad it’s hosted in Sweden, so no thanks.

Feel free to make your own choices. If paying for a VPN is illegal in your country, you have bigger problems, and good luck finding a trustworthy provider
Because of what?
Dependency on Qt5, I’m sure it will be updated “eventually”, at which point it will be gladly reaccepted.
Oh, right, I see qt5-base and other qt5 packages as deps. Good catch.
Yeah one day they will wake up and make it qt6 dep.
@SGS Thanks, it’s rebuilt now:
Finished making: qt6gtk2 0.2-6 (Sun 26 May 2024 03:53:14 AM CEST)
