same here conflict with garuda-dracut-support
I had a similar situation, but I found an old thread where someone removed the garuda-dracut-support
package, updated, then ran this:
sudo pacman -S garuda-dracut-support --overwrite ‘*’
and that should resolve the issue.
thanks it solved my issue
is this correct or will this be fixed later in some other way?
Sometimes if you wait a conflict will be resolved under the hood, sometimes not so much (or at least not very quickly), at least in my experience. fwiw, I’d recommend getting used to needing a little maintenance after updating here and there.
I only dropped in to say that you might need to type out sudo pacman -S garuda-dracut-support –overwrite ‘*’
, the formatting copied into terminal incorrectly for me. (There are two dashes before overwrite
, idk if it was something else too.) Also, just making sure that the proper order here is:
garuda-dracut-support
garuda-update
sudo pacman -S garuda-dracut-support –overwrite ‘*’
That’s what I did, and I didn’t seem to destroy my system yet, so hoping that it’s correct.
Thanks, it seems to have worked.
Can we get the Cinnamon removed?? it affects KDE-Dragonized-Gaming as well
I get this error when doing that :
sudo pacman -S garuda-dracut-support –overwrite ‘*’
error: target not found: –overwrite
error: target not found: ‘*’
I got one error that worries me in the log:
(3/9) Updating initramfs…

Failed to add dependency on unit: Unit initrd.target does not exist
Failed to add dependency on unit: Unit initrd.target does not exist
I can’t confirm if it’s got to do with this update or something else is broken. any hints?
I got these too, but I don’t think it’s relevant, as my system booted up just fine after a reboot.
Yeah, it’s for the fallback image.
I tried reinstalling Dracut just to test but it’s still the same. does the fallback image work?
LOL didn’t even try…..don’t wanna look for issues if things are working on my end….. figure by the time I’ll need to boot into fallback, then hopefully this will resolve itself…. big fan of snapshots
I’m a huge fan of snapshots in theory, but in practice it seems like every single time I actually go to restore a snapshot after messing with 1 thing too many and borking the system, the underlying issue is of the variety that also affects snapshots, preventing them from saving me (from myself lol). in the 5ish years I’ve been using Garuda and therefore BTRFS and snapshots, I can probably count on one hand the number of times where this wasn’t the case and I can assure you, that number does not exist as a testament to my Linux Fu mastery, as it is not representative of how frequently my system goes belly up. On the plus side, not being able to call on snapshots to save my ass 90% of the time forces me to roll up my sleeves and get into the muck with it and in turn, ultimately results in me learning more Linux fundamentals, which is never a bad thing. but damn, can’t I just sometimes get a mulligan and play on through without the whole ass mess?
edit - for some reason every mention of the word snapshot was auto hyperlinked here
I totally hear you, and I’ve only had to use snapshots ONCE and gosh darn, it worked like a charm, so I ain’t complainin……
Does anyone even know what the Dracut thing is for? Or better yet, what it’s purpose is?
Is it even worth installing after you uninstall it in the first place?
Clicking on the url automatically generated by the post might give you a few pointers. It’s a tool for generating initramfs(s?), originally from the fedora project. quite a critical piece of software for updates if you ask me
So what your saying is…if I reboot my computer right now after uninstalling dracut…something bad may happen when I log back into my system?
