Cannot boot after update

Hello there!
I've been using Garuda Linux for a few months now without any issues and it's been fantastic.

Today after running garuda-update and rebooting, I got the dreaded stuck on Loading initial ramdisk

The worst part is I can't get a text console (I tried all combinations of Ctrl, Alt, and F2)

I also saw a few recent posts on the forum, people who had the same issue, but they all fixed it through the console.

Unfortunately I haven't taken a time shift snapshot since January.

Can someone help me troubleshoot this issue?

Many thanks in advance!

Please note that any kind of debug information is better than no debug information, so garuda-inxi from your snapshot would be very helpful.

In advanced boot options, boot in recovery mode and try and temporarily uninstall the Nvidia drivers: sudo mhwd -r pci video-nvidia-dkms
Just tapping in the dark here, but this seems to be the most likely cause based on recent heuristics. It would be great if you could also supply a garuda-inxi from recovery mode to actually get some relevant heuristics.

I removed the nvidia drivers, what next?

I don't seem to have an internet connection, would images of garuda-inxi do?

Try and boot, I’d suggest?

Connect an ethernet cable.

It still shows the same thing. (apologies if I misunderstood anything)

I already had.

OK I got ethernet working.

I also followed this recent post and installed linux-lts, but booting into it gets stuck in the same place.

Same problem here. Fresh boot + update of Garuda on bare metal using LTS kernel. Once I install nvidia 525 driver, the boot hangs at Loading initial ramdisk. Booting into recovery mode works, but I'm not sure how to resolve the issue and boot normally.
HW details:
12700K, 32Gb DDR4, 3080ti
Changing the kernel doesn't help. I can't select 520 or 515 nvidia drivers since they aren't available in the Garuda hardware app or the repos.

sudo pacman -Qs nvidia

Something seems to be blocking the open source driver from loading.

FWIW I'm not using 525-open, I'm using the proprietary version.

Fantastic that seems to have fixed it, thanks.

However the mouse seems very laggy nevermind I had to adjust the DPI in piper

If you want, you can try to install the Nvidia drivers again and see if it works this time. It might have been a random compilation failure or similar, this should help narrow it down.

sudo mhwd -a pci nonfree 0300

I’m back with the same problem.

sudo mhwd -a pci nonfree 0300

I ran this yesterday, and also ran garuda-update today and rebooted.
The update prompted me to give priority to the Garuda Linux bootloader, which I did by running sudo grub-install

I had taken a timeshift snapshot before updating, which I booted into now.

A couple questions.

  1. Should I restore the snapshot as I was prompted to.
  2. How should I fix the booting problem
3. Mouse issuesBefore I ran the update I had issues with the mouse.

Yesterday, the cursor started to lag severely only when firefox was open. After installing the nvidia drivers again today it was completely broken, I slightly moved the mouse and it jumps to the opposite corner of the screen. It is not a hardware issue as I tried with both a wired and bluetooth mouse.

Thanks in advance for any help. Apologies if I did something wrong, I’m still a linux noob.
