Xbox controller not working on one Garuda system, but working on another

I have two Garuda systems, a thinkpad T590, and a PC with MSI MPG Z390, i7 9700k, RTX 2070S and RX580
The controller functions perfectly on the Thinkpad, but on the PC, it gets shown in lsusb, but the light doesn’t turn on and Steam doesn’t detect it. However, when plugged into the PC, the PC plays a “connecting” sound.

What can I try to make it work?

Make sure you have xpad installed on both. If you’re trying to use it wirelessly, you may also need xpadneo from AUR.

Also, since the Thinkpad has not been updated in bit, it’s possible that a newer kernel version has broken it.

Admittedly, my Xbox Elite controller broke A LOT - so I gave up and bought this. It has worked flawlessly since. I don’t nkow what magic they do, but it’s worth buying. It’s probably the best $20 I’ve ever spent on my PC. I’d have paid $100 if I knew it would work this well.

Just a slight clarification and / or correction.
I use an official xbox controller wirelessly with one of those third party wireless dongle clones on Garuda and I only need xone-git, not multiple packages / drivers installed. It works perfectly. I never bothered with xpad or xpadneo.
(I don’t use bluetooth with it because there are some mapping issues in some games that I could never get resolved. It’s a problem with sdl input or xinput or something like that.)

I have a Thrustmaster gamepad, which is wired.

You can install both mentioned drivers via Garuda Gamer application:

If you search for info for those, I think xone is for support on wired controllers (non-MS), and xpadneo is for BT connected controllers.
Though, I had issues with xone with a new Kernel release (not sure, maybe 6.8+ Zen), so I installed xone git version, which works fine to this day.

Does it work with bluetooth keyboards and multiple devices simultaneously?
My bluetooth has been giving me a ton of problems in general, eg. my keypresses taking multiple seconds to register or registering as held when not.

I have absolutely no idea. I’ve never tried and I don’t plan on it unfortunately. It works and works well with my xbox elite and that’s all I want it to do. I don’t even want to try in case I break something. Luckily my PC does fine with it.

But if you’re having issues with all bluetooth things. . . maybe it’s not your controller at all and maybe your bluetooth/wifi/whatever adapter it is you’re trying to use. . .

The solution was to install xone-dkms-git, after that, I was able to successfully play a few trackmania levels through proton without any issues
xpadneo-dkms-git also started working, but not nearly as smoothly as xone
