Working Download Manager

I have been pulling my hair out trying to find a good up to date download manager. Everyone I’ve tested so far has some type of Issue from not grabbing files below a certain size and no way to shut off the behavior, to not being able to it to not download certain file types, to it launching when a download is started but minimized to the panel and won’t expand, etc…

Anyone with any suggestions would be very welcome.

Thanks

We would need to know which DL managers you have already tested.

One of the most versatile and extremely configurable DLMs is jdownloader2 (AUR).

I’ll give JD another run since I was still on WinBLOWS when I last used it.

EDIT:

Forgot that I had tested it with it’s Chrome extension and it wouldn’t grab the links.

As for ones I’ve tried: Free Download Manager, XDMan, Persepolis, IDM.

I’m just saying.

Jdownloader2 is somewhat proprietary but I would say it’s usefulness is exceptional. I have yet to find something it can’t download.

Jdownloader2 atm doesn’t want to install via octopi or Setup Assistant.

I had to install it manually, used Mental Outlaw’s AUR guide.

I went back to Free Download Manager. I can live with having to exit it from the Systray once in awhile and relaunch it.
