Wine Application keeps freezing

Hey!
I’m currently trying to run FL-Studio 21 on Garuda and while it’s technically open and running, everytime I hover over a menu so that a dropdown appears the whole application just rapidly get’s slower and slower until it’s frozen completly for a whole minute (or longer if the menu is still there). Once it resolves it makes all the clicks I did while it was frozen.

I couldn’t find anything about having problems with running it through wine and I don’t remember having this issue back in Fedora.

I tried using:
- normal wine command and installation via terminal
- 64bit wine command and installation via terminal
- Installation via Lutris
- using different wine versions
all with the same issue.

What’s also strange for me is the fact that it’s using 150% CPU in Htop but when actually lagging it rises beyond 200%.

Currently I have wine-8.17 installed. If you need any other information please let me know and I’ll make sure to add it.

If anyone knows anything else, that could help me resolving the issue, I’d greatly appreciate pointing it out.

  • Which specific Lutris install script did you choose? Can you provide a link like this?
  • Which Wine versions did you try, were they different or the same as specified in the install script?
  • SMART is not reported due to missing package, you can get it with sudo pacman -S smartmontools
  • Can you run lutris -d from the command line and post debug information in a code block?
  • I see partially upgraded, please run update and restart before continuing.

Which specific Lutris install script did you choose?

There was no specific install script for lutris. I just added it to lutris using the “install wine application with installer” option.

Which Wine versions did you try, were they different or the same as specified in the install script?

The specific Wine versions I tried were 8.17 and ge-8.17

SMART is not reported due to missing package

I’ve updated the inxi message in my initial post

Can you run lutris -d from the command line and post debug information in a code block?

I don’t really see anything that could be useful here but.

I also ran the program through the terminal and add the log in here. While I don’t know if there’s anything of value here, it sure can’t hurt to be able to look at.

Unfortunately, I don’t see anything useful to solving the problem in that log. You do not appear to have failing disks, luckily. I wish I was able to be more help debugging.

Another thing that recently popped up is this:

Which may be the cause my problems after all.
I’ll see if I can find anything about it.

EDIT: Apparently this hasn’t fixed the dropdown menu issue. But well another issue off the road too.

Can you find some way to get ASIO drivers? Maybe this is helpful?!

Well the Asio driver issue has just something todo with pipewire since it can’t actually find some devices. Just disabling them (as they are not being used anyway by me) resolved that.

So quick update. I’ve decided to look on lutris for an install script since you mentioned those too back then. I did end up finding 3 actually and I’ve just picked the most up to date one which also fixed the issue with those menus aswell!
Not sure what else there is that I didn’t do with manual installing, but it fixed it.
This is the script I used:
