Wi-Fi Not Working Mediatek MT7902 on asus a1404va

Hello everyone,

I’ve just installed Garuda Linux (dual boot with Windows) and I’m unable to get my Wi-Fi working. My Wi-Fi card is a MediaTek MT7902. The system detects the PCI device, but no Wi-Fi interface or networks appear in NetworkManager.

I have tried extensive troubleshooting for several hours. Here is a summary of everything I have already tried:

  • Performed a full system update via garuda-update.

  • Installed the latest firmware by replacing linux-firmware with linux-firmware-git from the AUR.

  • Confirmed that the mt7921e kernel module was loaded at one point, but sometimes it is not loaded on boot. Manually loading it with modprobe mt7921e does not solve the issue.

  • Checked rfkill list all and confirmed there are no soft or hard blocks.

  • Installed and booted into the linux-lts kernel, but the issue persists.

  • Disabled “Fast Startup” and “Hibernation” in my Windows installation.

  • Updated my laptop’s BIOS/UEFI to the latest version available on the manufacturer’s official website.

  • Checked dmesg logs, and there are no messages (neither success nor error) related to mt79 or mt7921e, even after trying to load the module manually.

Below is my full system information. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there, welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, I don’t think there are good news about this adapter in the forum (or in others).
