Ok so I want to switch to using Garuda Dr460nized Gaming from windows… But the issue I’m having is that I’m buying the Asus A15 laptop with rtx 3050 and i want to remove windows completely so if i do that the asus native applications like Armoury Crate, Ai denoise, ASUS Display GameVisual Color Modes, adaptive sync, MUX switchwon’t be available so is their any other laptops i can use in which the main useful applications would be there and i wouldn’t need to do most of the things manually using asusctl, openrgb, xrandr, supergfxctl … Etc… Please help me with you experienced advice cause I’m a medical student and I just love computers and want to learn more about it.
There is practically no major PC/laptop manufacturer that officially supports Linux, and therefore no manufacturer offers Windows tools for Linux. However, there are some open source projects that develop appropriate tools for Linux - for example asusctl
. Information about what is possible and which functions are supported can be found here:
So do i just sudo pacman -S asusctl rog-control-center power-profiles-daemon? Or should i do something before or after?
That’s all you really need to do.
If you want to install Garuda Dr460nized Gaming, you don’t need to install power-profiles-daemon
, it’s already preinstalled.
Lenovos are a good fit as they offer linux versions not as many but they do offer some and some support for the no linux ones.

or system76
The main thing get laptop with as much vram as you can get. (vram is the ram on the graphics card)
I dont like them personally but framework laptops as well.
Framework and system 76 doesn’t deliver to india so cant get it… And lenovo loq with rtx 3050 4gb vram is in budget but if i get it i won’t be able toggle between performance mode, balanced mode etc cause i have to set the fan speed manually each and every time…so it would be a hassale… i did some search on it and the best i could find to make custom range of temperature so that the fan changes speed… But i couldn’t find anything to alter the power supplied to the processor… The main thing i need
Ok thanks… But it’s there any thing to alter the power supplied to the processor?
you might be able to modify kde’s power profiles so then you can swap with meta+b or the icon in the system tray. idk if it can be done but thats where i would start. if you have lact installed it will already downclock the gpu in power savings mode
Doesn’t lact only deals with the gpu…i wanted the full control of power cosuming components which will inturn kinda prolong the battery health and the motherboard’s… Cause the asus Armoury does have that function so i need an alternative… Tge last option for me would doing each and every thing manually each time.
Then get a tuxido they are the only ones that have a app kinda like that. you need a kenel pkg if you use any other os to make i work though but most have it. You wont find alot of apps like what you want on linux that are all in one.
GitHub - tuxedocomputers/tuxedo-control-center: A tool to help you control performance, energy, fan and comfort settings on TUXEDO laptops. i cant say it will work for anything but their own laptops. as they have their own kernel level driver for their computers.
Well thankyou for you suggestion and taking your time for explanation… But tuxedo doesn’t deliver to india… I’ll do things manually i guess
no problem meta pkgs are few an far between cause its kinda a pain to maintain for free.
I would add one other bit of advice; go with AMD for CPU and GPU. Nvidia’s drivers are known to break frequently on Linux and these latest Intel CPU’s have sever issues. just my two Rupees worth.
ps. Perhaps you have a relative in another country you can trust to have a laptop drop-shipped to, and then forward it to you? It is just an idea.
Oops, found another topic where no timer is active.
Good tip, that’s my opinion too.
Since the OP has not replied since then, I assume that this topic is no longer relevant. That’s why I’m closing here.
