For RTS fans like myself.. I loved BAR - Beyond All Reason. Definitely going to revisit it. YT reviewers have give this high prise for its unit variety and general win as a modernised oldschool RTS.
Another gem I installed was... Forza Horizon 5. I was on the fence on that one but I think its an upgrade over FH4 in terms of driving realism. I am mainly there for the races.. Free roam gets boring for me in 2 minutes. Racing is great and the AI difficulty is well setup in this one.
Have not tried running it on Linux yet. I am probably just going to get used to using The Xbox app on W11 and just be OK with running some titles on the Windows. Later I might meddle with it via RX GPU but for now I am good. They have done a good job and bring quite high quality titles for enthusiast so I am not complaining. YMMV
Has anyone managed to get vanilla AoE running on Garuda? I tried under Lutris but the installer keeps on crashing. I have both the Gold Edition and the Collector's Edition.
Warframe seems to play a ton better in DX12 mode set in the launcher and using: VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_1 gamemoderun %command%
as the Steam launch options. (gamemoderun may not be necessary depending on the performance optioins already in Garuda, but its an old habit, . Also what feature level set depends on the graphics card; if you know it has at DX12 of some sort but don't know what feature set, you could use VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_0 instead)
I also have the game set for borderless, with vsync off and a frame limit that matches the refresh rate of the monitor. (some of those settings may or may not help depending on your setup)
Of course using Proton-GE seems to help a bit too.
Hi thanks for answer @Kayo
i have set VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=11 haven't tested 12 yet, i have set lowest graphics in warframe, and that gave me a boost, my card is radeon 6700xt, i have turned off vsync, set framerate to 75, on mintor it's 60, but in other games that setting just limiting fps, and i don't want to fall lower than 60fps
always playing at fullscreen, but i'm using x11
using some old proton-ge 7.38 but using it for all games and that has FSR enabled
I have set resolution in game to 1504x846 FSR which is balanced graphics at 1920x1080
But a moment when i set FSR in game, warframe losing smoothness it feels clunky
Baldur's Gate 3....and it is very fun. It is quite challenging (kicking my ) as did the previous titles, 1 and 2, from years ago. It lives up to its name.
I love seeing posts on how Windowz users are reporting choppiness and crashes. I have been playing it for hours and runs smooth and never a crash on Linux. (hee...heee.....HAAAAA!)
I'm all about Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Need for Speed Most Wanted. Gotta confess, I'm not exactly acing CS:GO My usual jam is hanging out with bots, I also only play death matches where it's everyone for themselves. I'm not big on official matches – I tend to bite the dust within half a second of jumping in.
Odd, sounds like the link to start the game (.exe) is pointing to another game. I have never had this issue. You could maybe trying opening up Lutris, add the Steam game to it. Right click (configure) on the game and see if it gives you the option to change the path to the game starter. There are two in BG3; bg3.exe (DirectX 12) and bg3_dx11.exe (DirectX 11,) use which ever is best for your graphics card. The bg3.exe is located in Baldurs Gate 3/bin. Hope that helps.
Been having a lot of fun playing Armored Core VI lately. Only thing I wish it had was some kind of co-op, but at least PvP with friends seems to work well online.
