"So previously I had been using Garuda Hyprland for a while and felt like I wanted to try Garuda Mokka to change things up a bit. After switching over, it’s been fine, but there’s a problem that might not be important but is annoying - I can’t set a video as my wallpaper. I went into the settings, and in the wallpaper section I added the extension ‘smart video wallpaper reborn’, then tried using it and selected the video I wanted, but I got a small error: ||‘Crashes/Black screen? Try changing the Qt Media Backend to gstreamer. To recover from crash remove the videos from the configuration using this command below in terminal/tty then reboot: sed -i ‘s/^VideoUrls=.*$/VideoUrls=/g’ $HOME/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc $HOME/.config/kscreenlockerrc’|| I tried following what the error message suggested but didn’t see any results and the screen went black. It’s not like in Garuda Hypr - in that one I could go into the config file and see what it was using for the wallpaper, delete it, and replace it with something else I wanted. But in Mokka, I don’t even know what it uses to display the wallpaper. Even though I tried fixing it by downloading something else, I can’t delete or disable the default one because I don’t know what it is. Please help me find a solution. <Intel CPU + iGPU, Nvidia GPU>"![]()
Please always provide garuda-inxi when asking for help on the forum. It is much harder to give good advice without knowing what exactly the target is.
To stop using it, you can change the wallpaper type, opposite of the Usage section. If you set it for the lock screen, be sure to undo that too.
I’m sorry for asking a confusing question. I posted the question and then went to sleep because I had been playing games all day. But when I woke up, I tried looking for a fix again. I right-clicked on the wallpaper on my main desktop and selected “Wallpaper,” then clicked “Get New Plugin.” The plugin I was trying to use had an “Update” button. When I clicked it and then pressed “Apply” in the bottom-right corner, the screen went black for a second, and then the video I wanted to use as the wallpaper appeared.
It’s pretty surprising because yesterday I had just downloaded the plugin and it didn’t work, but today there was suddenly an update available. I wonder if it was just a coincidence that I came back right when the developer had just released an update to fix this issue, or if it was my fault for not realizing that after downloading a plugin, I needed to update it before using it.
Anyway, thank you — the problem is now solved.![]()
