I took the chance of running Topgrade to see what I got and to be honest it was odd in my book. The updates it listed and did were the updates from yesterday that I could of sworn updated just fine. The 6.12.1 zen kernel for one and none of the qemu files. still have the issue and issue.pacnew files because I didn’t want to merge or replace without knowing what the issue file should actually read. I ran garuda-update after Topgrade and it went fine with no further updates actually needed. Rebooted ran garuda-update again and it ran fine with no further updates needed.

Thought I’d add some information on this, and that is that it seems if one runs Topgrade and the update fails telling it yes to try again the update takes without issue. I just went to do my roommates machine which to make it easier for him actually has Reborn on it. I ran Topgrade update failed like here, but telling it to try again it took. From what it looked like on my system and his that some previous updates didn’t take even though it looked like they did (see my comment above about the 6.12.1 kernel). Odd in my book. On Gary’s system when I first tried Topgrade it said there were about 800 megs in updates, but after trying Topgrade the second time it said there were over 2200 megs in updates. I honestly don’t know what to make of it. At least on both systems all seems good without any real intervention needed.

pls not merge
The \S {pretty_name} parameter is replaced by the name of the operating system, where \r stands for the kernel version.
in our case we replace it with
Garuda Linux.
but this file is there

Displaying banner before login

Linux uses the /etc/issue file to save a login banner or message the shell displays before login. By default, this file contains two options that display Linux and kernel versions. To display a customized message before login, you can edit this file.
