Want some tips and guides on Garuda as a begginer at linux

So i want to learn more about linux and gaming also the do’s and dont so i dont accidentally mess up and have to reinstall the OS

Welcome @JackalXFox. A good starting point is this article, which gives a quick rundown of some of the Garuda apps, what they do and how to get started using them.

Also from the Garuda Wiki is this write up about how to search for solutions effectively.

Most issues you will have with your computer have already been solved by someone else, somewhere else on the internet; if you get good at searching for solutions you will be able to solve a lot of issues you run into on your own.

Everyone should read the “System Maintenance” article in the ArchWiki at least once. It’s not that long and is jam-packed with good advice.

This last one is from another distro, but it’s still very relevant and has a lot of good advice. It’s not meant to be a “everyone should do these things” post like the ArchWiki article; it’s more of a “if you choose to do these things you will probably run into fewer issues” kind of thing. Definitely worth a read!

If you are coming from Windows and have never used Linux (it seems) I suggest you read. Read a lot.

i had used ubuntu but not a arch but i have been reading alot on linux anyways :stuck_out_tongue:

You can use the built-in Garada programs, they are very helpful, mainly for beginners. 1: Garuda Gamer, 2: Garuda Assistant. With both, please be still mindful of what you are changing.
Have fun with the learning process.

oh yea im always mindful tho can u use other methods on customnizing and use like deviantart and or other places for the icons and other stuff and can u use rainmeter as well ?

It depends on the DE you use, KDE, Hyprland, GNOME …
Each use his own “apps” for customizing, no need for rainmeter.

Just start with one, use live ISO and change the look.

The customization is easiest on KDE Plasma (the default on the Dragonized version). You have a few options to chose from, and if you want more - you can download more via the “Get New” button in the upper right corner:

Also you can add Widgets to your desktop as well (right-click desktop → Enter Edit mode → Add Widgets).
