USB to HDMI 3rd monitor

Hello, I'm having a problem with a USB to HDMI adapter with Garuda - I already tried it in different ways but looks like is only with problems here... USB Port is 3.1 so no problem about that, I already tried it with Windows and after installing driver and restart everything worked too so adapter is ok..

I already have a 2nd monitor directly with HDMI connected, so this Adapter from USB 3.1 to HDMI is for a 3rd monitor so it's not working, this is my inxi -F

I already followed a lot of posts like this one Displaylink on Arch Linux - NSA Blog but not working, and checked some videos about it, but no luck... changed GPU selection, nothing... and that... heh any help with be greatly appreciated!

Does the adapter support Linux?

Have you already checked in the Arch wiki? E.g.:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/DisplayLink

PS: garuda-inxi provides more information than inxi -F

I think so... nothing is said in the box about compatibility

Unless it explicitly says it's Linux-compatible then I'd make the assumption that it's a Windows-only device.

Can you provide any other details about this adapter?

Yeh I tried that too, didn't work and about the other inxi yeh, haha I'm used to this -F option so... haha

perhaps... I tried on windows and it worked... however the name in lsusb shows

"MacroSilicon VGA Display Adapter" but is not for VGA, is HDMI

Any other info from the dmesg, e.g.

sudo dmesg | grep -i usb

?

Looks like this adapter is just not linux compatible... I searched a little in different online stores and looks like there are not much adapters for linux either

Maybe a desperate try…

and

kind of make me think that the adapter is wrongly recognized as snd-usb-audio like here:
https://www.mjt.me.uk/posts/fixing-missing-macrosilicon-ms2109/
In your case you have to substitute the ATTRS{idProduct}=="2109" with ATTRS{idProduct}=="6021" but you could give it a try, with that udev rule or like in the Arch forum thread linked therein…

nope, nice try but no luck

I hate to say so, but this thread makes me feel like it's a lost cause.
