Update broke half of my KDE theming I had going, how to reset/restore?

Just updated today after some dunno 2-3 weeks without.

Out of KDE’s System Settings’ Colors & Themes categories —

  • what no longer works: Colors, Application Style, Icons
  • what still works: Window Decorations, Night Light, Plasma Style, Cursors, Splash Screen, Login Screen

“No longer works” meaning: can be selected/applied but is just ignored and not rendered. It falls back to some mostly-white bright coloring, not even selecting the factory-defaults “Breeze Dark” theme changes Colors or Application Style.

(And Dolphin somehow shows red-like-Ubuntu-uses folder icons, I have no such Icon Theme even installed!?)

Any ideas how this KDE theming stuff can be reset/fixed without reverting to snapshot? I’m thinking maybe I should clean up some hidden-somewhere “custom themes” folders and reinstall them clean. Maybe they are now seen as corrupted and bork the works even with Garuda’s factory-default Themes… dunno?

Muchos gracias for all ideas =)

@SGS thank for you that suggestion, but which checkbox(es) in this screenshot should I tick here? I don’t see a “KDE” or “Themes” one (dunno what “PSD” refers to tho)

Use all
All config files are in /etc/skel/

You change it, you fix it

OK done so and re-logged-in but did not solve it at all. Thanks though!

Well c’mon I was only using KDE’s fancy theme-downloading-and-installing features, not editing config files willy-nilly or something. =)

What happens if you create a new user?

Not trying to blame the victim here… but you really need to implement a full backup regimen if you want to be covered when something goes sideways. BTRFS snapshots are in no way a proper replacement for full backups.
