Update and driver issues

Hello all, I ran in to a few issues with current update. Recently i try to run the open source driver updater for my rx 550 gpu and after reboot only my file manager would come up other wise black screens. I’m seeing some are having challenges with the recent update too. i have my games and all other programs running after using my mother boradvideo out put and snapper, but now i’m nervous to try to update.
this is my garuda-inxi

Please follow the complete template

  • Format terminal output (including your garuda-inxi) as a code block by clicking the preformatted text button (</>) , or put three tildes (~) above and below the text

I usually change/format it directly for new users, but here’s the note again for everyone.

Could you please clarify what you did?
All you need to do is launching

garuda-update

In case of further troubles, after restoring again the latest working snapshot, you could try switching to the LTS kernel, then update again.

yes i wanted to install the latest drivers from amd i thought mine were out of date. from there i ran the open soure autoinstaller in settings manager after that i reset the system. when the system boot it was dual black screens. i dont have the garuda update log. im worried to run the current update after getting black screens. I used snapper tools to revert and got my gpu running but, now dont know if after update my gpu driver issues will be back. Just looking to update and forget putting the drivers from amd’s site on all together. Thanks for all help.

I didn’t realize this issue was cross-posted, but I guess I will just paste my response into this thread as well for the benefit of anyone following along.

There was a bug with the 24.3.1 version of mesa affecting certain AMD GPUs. See this related topic from another forum:

The issue is resolved with mesa 24.3.1-2, which is already in the stable repo. Updating normally should resolve the issue.
