Unknown Monitor Display Port Nvidia 770

Hey All,

I just installed Garuda a few days ago, hoping to replace windows as my daily driver.

Excited that bambu labs is supported in Linux so that makes me excited.

I’m getting the issue where my monitor shows up as unknown and only gives me 1024x768 as the resolution and that’s a bummer.

I tried doing

sudo nvidia-settings and it gave me a bunch of errors, and I attempted to do sudo pacman -Syu nvidia-dkms to make sure it was installed.

A bit at my wits end for trying to figure this out, even having gone through a bunch of threads, and I feel like I must be missing something simple. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is what comes up when I do nvidia-settings

Try a X11 session instead from the login menu as that only works in an X11 session. (Just click where it says the session type and change it to X11)

The drivers you need for that are the 470 ones; not the one you were trying to install as that is only for more recent cards.

Thank you =^.^=

I tried moving into an X-11 Session but I just get stuck on a black screen, so I’m going to go try and see if I can install that older nvidia driver and will report back.

Okay, I think I got into X-11 Correctly, but logging out and then switching it and logging back in, instead of making a new session.

Now it’s giving me “None-1” for my monitor.

Here’s teh inxi and the nvidia config

I’m wondering if there’s a power state type thing in my bios for the graphics card that’s messing it up? I’m guess cause of this ** (nvidia-settings:10176): CRITICAL **: 00:33:48.687: ctk_powermode_new: assertion '(ctrl_target !=NULL) && (ctrl_target->h != NULL)' failed

The power thing wasn’t it.

I ended up going and running the system update in Garuda Assistant, and now it’s giving a different error (in X-11)

Okay I’m a numbskull, I didn’t run the nvidia dkmp from the website I was linked. That fixed it. (Though I also switched to HDMI halfway through)

Is the issue completely resolved now?
If so, you can mark the post with the solution.
