Unable to launch vulkan steam games on fresh install

I’m able to launch cyberpunk and everspace 2 but I cannot launch:
-Control
-Satisfactory
-Stalker 2

I have tried:
-proton-ge-custom
-proton experimental
-proton 9.0-3
-proton 8.0-5

I troubleshooted x11, nvidia drivers, and vulkan extensively but wasn’t able to find a resolution so I did a clean install of Garuda and am still unable to launch most games that compile vulkan shaders.

i know it can be a real pain getting a game to run again after a reinstall. One very useful solution is downloading protonup-qt and installing the latest GE-proton, as well as the latest few Proton-Tkg version and try again.

More often than not such solves the problem. i found out that especially the latest proton-tkg versions often fixes (newer type) games, that ran before, but video driver updates, or re-installation, broke. Sometimes, after driver updates, new proton commands need to be added to get the game to work again. Checking after the official game proton recommendations often has user share such information.

(For example with Ark Evolved i did not have to use launch options to get it to run for many years. Yet now i have to give these launch options to get it to work. WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 PROTON_ENABLE_NGX_UPDATER=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr,dxr11,force_static_cbv PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%

See how you go.

Thanks for the reply. I gave that a try. No dice unfortunately.

I resolved this with DXVK_FILTER_DEVICE_NAME=“NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti” %command%
