Unable to install VueScan

Tried to install VueScan on Garuda and it failed to start. Reached out to Hamrick and they basically stated they don’t really know much about arch and that their packages are mostly made for Debian based distros.

However there is a package in the AUR and although it installed successfully, it failed to start. Sent output to Arch Package maintainer and he basically stated it works for him in arch. Ouput is listed below.

Per the Arch Package maintainer:

Vuescan does not work on Garuda linux. I imagine it won’t work on other
Arch based distros as well.

Here is the output when i try to start it from terminal:

╭─reggie@garudaKin ~
╰─λvuescan
fish: Job 1, ‘vuescan’ terminated by signal SIGABRT (Abort)

Hi Reginald, for me it start

Please discuss it on the Garuda forum or at

That is a separate issue. It is a common problem with the makepkg.conf configuration file.

Anyways, the package in question AUR (en) - vuescan-bin seems to have a ton of problems reported. Reporting it to the maker is the correct route; there is very little we can do on our side.
