Unable to install drivers?

Hello, I am new to Garuda Linux, and I cannot understand why this happens when auto installing the proprietary drivers.

So far, I have :

  1. Live booted with opensource drivers, in GRUB2 mode, and installed Garuda
  2. Done a Garuda update and rebooted

hello and welcome

can you post please your garuda-inxi. Open the Terminal and type it in and copy paste in here as Preformatted text field </> sign or use 3 tiles ~ above and under it.

Yes its right thank you

For your GPU its on Arch wiki website to use the sudo pacman -S nvidia-open-dkms

Tried to install dkms too, but it throws the same message. Changes failed, zero details

EDIT - Hardware manager seems to throw that error apparently. Terminal does run that command though.

EDIT 2 - nvidia-smi outputs valid information about the driver, but KDE Plasma’s system information shows Intel Mesa instead

where it shows up? Yes because you also have a integrated GPU .

please post your garuda inxi again if its now the right driver installed for it .

I had the same “problem” but after sudo pacman -S nvidia-dkms the problem was solved.

Hi ,

its different hardware maybe you have another Nvidia GPU and can use nvidia-dkms but for his GPU its in the list for the nvidia-open-dkms.

There is an important point missing, because you are asked - after the installation and the subsequent reboot - during the initial setup whether you want to install the nvidia drivers. Did this prompt appear? If so, did you confirm or reject it?
Because I wonder why you wanted to install the nvidia drivers manually via “Garuda Settings Manager”.

According to your garuda-inxi it seems that no nvidia driver was installed and only the open source driver nouveau was loaded.

And if no nvidia drivers were actually installed, then installing

is not sufficient. Not all necessary packages will be installed, among others nvidia-prime might be missing which you need for your hybrid-graphics laptop.

Please post a current garuda-inxi again, as @Duke187 has already mentioned, and the output of:

pacman -Qs nvidia

so that we can see which packages are currently installed and which packages are potentially still missing.
