I’m trying to clear out my application dock for my other activities and put only specific apps in the other activities. I know Plasma does not let you have different panels per activity, so I figured I could use an activated script to swap the config file. My understanding is that the panel config is in ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc and I do see the names of the apps I have in my dock. But somehow when switching between activities, even though I have it change a symbolic link to separate config files, when I edit the dock and then switch activities, the changes occur in all of them.
I’m very confused how this is happening. Is the configuration not actually stored in that file?
The reason I am trying to do this, is that per-activity customization of the dock is impossible due to some horrible bugs. If you try to change an application to appear only in one activity by right-clicking on it and changing the pinning checkboxes, and then try to move an app in the dock to a different position, it will scramble the arrangement of everything. Sometimes it gets even more confused and apps will be invisible or visible different from how you actually have the checkboxes set. It’s super frustrating and unusable. So I’m trying to figure out a workaround by just having completely separate configurations for the dock for each activity.
I would appreciate any suggestions.
