Trying to raise nvidia gpus power limit to max ( Hybrid Laptop)

Ideapad Gaming 3 15arh7:
Apu: Amd Ryzen 5 6600H with 660M Graphics
Dgpu: Nvidia Rtx 3050 with a 85w tgp(curently set to 60w)

I am trying to get my tdp to this chips full power 60w isnt cutting it for certain games like cyberpunk in particular.
i have tried doing to green with envy and cool bits option… but found out quickly that for some reason that adding an xorg.conf.d file or modifying the orginal xorg.conf config /etc/X11/xorg.conf was a terible idea and keptme from booting…(i had to hop into recovery mode and use maintenance mode to delete said file to be able to boot.
i then had to reinstall nvidia drivers to get my xorg.conf back.) I dont think coolbits is going to work. Or maybe i didnt do something right.

I folowed this for the first time i bricked it .

(How to set coolbit value on Optimus laptops? - #2 by jonathon)

Firstly, does nvidia-smi work?

Secondly, look for an X configuration file under /etc/X11/xorg.d/ (or as /etc/X11/xorg.conf) and see what its contents is. If you have a file for the nvidia device then you can add Option "Coolbits" "8" into its [Device] section."

Sorry is there is something super simple im missing ive never had an
Hybrid/nvidia gpu on linux and this is also my first distro outside of Fedora.

im just trying to get my full performance out of my card
i dont want to overclock or anything other than fan speed which i can do in green with envy with out coolbits.
can some one help please i have leaving almost 1/3 of my gpus performance on the table.
I did reboot before doing inxi but it has taken me a while to pull my thoughts together in writing this.
lol been working alot im kind of tired

The GeForce RTX 3050 Mobile is generally too weak for Cyberpunk 2077, the card is on the level of a GeForce GTX 1650/Radeon RX 470 and doesn’t even meet the minimum requirements for minimal graphics settings in 1080p (e.g. 6GB VRAM). Your 8GB RAM is also very little.

Nope, the official max TDP is 45w, but the manufacturers decide for themselves what they allow in their hardware:

GeForce RTX 3050 Mobile 45W = 1065-1343 MHz
GeForce RTX 3050 Mobile 50W = 1185-1417 MHz
GeForce RTX 3050 Mobile 55W = 1222-1485 MHz
GeForce RTX 3050 Mobile 60W = 1237-1500 MHz
GeForce RTX 3050 Mobile 70W = 1403-1635 MHz
GeForce RTX 3050 Mobile 80W = 1530-1740 MHz

Lenovo has limited the TDP in your IdeaPad to 60w, and for good reason: the cooling system is designed for this. So better keep your hands off it

Yes i am well aware of the different skus for the rtx 3050, according to the data sheet for my particular model laptop … for my configuration its 80w i have done my research before i bought this… bought it used. im not thermaly limited the graphics card barely hits 60c and thats at 70% fan ( throttle limit is at 97c) its default in windows was 80 with no adjustments although afterburner wouldnt let me give it more power.

and yes im aware that even at full bore its not going to be the best but the card will and is running the game even under the recomended vram.

Yeah im going to be upgradeing to 32gb of ram… its not technicaly supported past 16gb but plenty of other users have done the same and had no problems out of there systems so im hoping.

Sorry its my first time posting here so i wasnt quite sure where to post since it was nvidia software/settings i am trying to alter.
Thank you for your reply

I think you are confusing TDP and TGP, they are not the same thing.
If you want to increase the TGP, check first whether your power supply is even designed for it.

Do what you want, it’s your decision.

You are on your own with this one. Good luck.

You can try LACT but as Nepti said a 3050 isn’t the best performer.

I can’t say it will work but you can try it.

Since it is neither a garuda issue, linux issue or hardware/BIOS problem, I’ll close this one. Everything has been said.
