Trying to Create new folder on desktop

Not really the biggest issue, but every time I try creating a new folder on my desktop, it sort of crashes, closes everything I have open and basically acts like I just logged in. It doesn’t reboot or anything though. I can create a new file on the desktop through Dolphin however.

Hi seffer08
and if you try to create your folder on the command line in a terminal
as if:

$ mkdir ~/Desktop/your_folder_name

Afterwards it is not advisable to store a large directory in your desktop as it will slow down your PC

i was just trying to clean up a few loose files i had on my desktop, not create a large directory or anything. right click in the desktop to select ‘create new’ - ‘folder’, and as soon as i do it goes to a black screen then acts as if i just logged in, all programs i had open close.

Do you have the same issue if you select an x11 session at login as opposed to wayland?

I don’t actually know how to test that, but I’ll give it a try if you can let me know how to go about that.

In the login screen, there is a dropdown list on the bottom left to select the session. Choose x11 plasma instead of wayland.

alright, i did that and the issue doesn’t happen with x11.
