I’m an IT guy since the 80’s, worked on one of the largest IT projects ever (still ranks in the top ten of the world’s largest databases) and PLENTY of regular size projects. I started using Red Hat Linux in about 2000, then SuSE, HP/UX, Fedora, OpenSuSE, Ubuntu, Oracle Linux, AWS Linux, and AIX. Despite all this, I still consider myself to be a Linux noob, having spent so much time on Windows machines due to the jobs I’ve taken as a lifelong consultant - you work with whatever the client wants and supports.
I’m also a fierce defender of the Oxford comma (flame on)!!!
I’ve only recently discovered Garuda Linux. Despite some frustration with it and a show-stopper that prevents me from using it as my primary development platform (Cisco Secure Client), I’m REALLY impressed with Garuda. It’s become my go-to distro, when I’m not using Windows 11 as my primary development platform.
I’ve switched lately from Ubuntu after the latest update pooched my dual monitor setup (no fix for that, yet) and the user experience between Ubuntu and Garuda is SO much better on Garuda (except for the aforementioned Cisco issue) that when I logged back into Ubuntu to retrieve some licenses before nuking it, it felt like I was going back to the 2000’s at times. I’m now firmly supportive of KDE over Gnome as well.
Many thanks to you, the Garuda community, for your dedication and expertise in making Garuda the distro to beat.
Hoping your days are great and your dreams are fulfilled!
