Trouble with xdg-desktop-portal and ScreenCasting

Hey there,
I've been facing some problems with xdg-desktop-portal recently. Being on wayland I have the xdp-wlr package installed as one should, but still, trying to screenshare in brave yields a crash and doing the same on firefox just shows nothing.

The latter might be related to the fact that apparently no ff-based browsers are compiled with pipewire support, but anyways I am getting these errors in the console:

** (/usr/lib/xdg-desktop-portal:906774): WARNING **: 23:28:52.500: Failed to get application states: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.portal.Error.Failed: Could not get window list
XDP: screen cast session owned by ':1.201' created

** (/usr/lib/xdg-desktop-portal:906774): WARNING **: 23:28:57.933: A backend call failed: No such interface “org.freedesktop.impl.portal.ScreenCast” on object at path /org/freedesktop/portal/desktop
XDP: screen cast session owned by ':1.201' closed

** (/usr/lib/xdg-desktop-portal:906774): WARNING **: 23:28:57.934: Failed to close session implementation: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod: Object does not exist at path “/org/freedesktop/portal/desktop/session/1_201/webrtc_session123881657”

the WLR package does have support for Screencasting, proven by the point, that it was working fine before and there also being a screencast support line in the wlr.portal file.

I really don't know, what else I can try right now. I have tested this with several browsers, searched a bunch and checked if people had the same issue, of which one was this, but unresolved. I need your help now.
Thanks!

Just an idea after a quick search (I'm not in wayland). Check the pinned comment here (the package is in the chaotic-aur, anyway) and relevant reddit post:

Seems promising, but that also didn't help.

I tried downgrading xdg-dbus-proxy xdg-desktop-portal and xdg-utils, but I'm still experiencing the same problem.

I fixed it. The XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP variable was unset, which I noticed following The WLR troubleshooting checklist

I added the line Environment=XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=Wayfire into the [Service] part of the Service located at /usr/lib/systemd/user/xdg-desktop-portal-wlr.service.

XDP apparently got confused about what I was using

I suggest you read the Arch Wiki entries regarding systemd. It is best to use a systemd drop-in file rather than editing files directly in /usr/lib/systemd:
