Trouble installing or launching Steam and game launchers on Garuda Dr460nized Gaming

Hello everyone,

I’m new to Garuda Linux and I installed the Garuda Dr460nized Gaming Edition because of its beautiful interface and because I thought it would give me better performance for gaming (for example, better FPS on Steam).

However, I’m having some trouble. I’m not sure if Steam is already installed or not, and I don’t know how to open or install it. On Linux Mint 22.2, it was very easy — I just clicked and installed directly.

In Garuda, I opened Garuda Gamer and tried to launch some apps like EA App, but when I click “Apply Changes”, I get an error message and nothing happens.

Could someone please guide me step-by-step on how to properly install and open Steam on Garuda Dr460nized Gaming? I’m still a beginner with Linux systems, so simple explanations would really help.

Thank you very much!

Steam should be preinstalled on Garuda Dr460nized Gaming, open the Application Launcher → Games.

If not, install it with:

sudo pacman -S steam

Using GPT chat I managed to solve it. I had several problems and after several commands they were resolved, and I was able to open Steam.
