The system cannot boot(nvcsw: 3/3 holdout: 1 idle_cpu: -1/6)

Today when booting up, it got stuck at ‘Loading initial ramdisk…’ for several minutes without starting up. Then I went to work, and when I came back home, it still hadn’t booted up. The screen displayed multiple lines of ‘00000000c6fd5b3e: .. nvcsw: 3/3 holdout: 1 idle_cpu: -1/6’, and I couldn’t perform sysrq operations either - it would keep showing the sysrq help.

This is cpu scheduling issue, perhaps with your system update the initramfs was not correct build or It could also be that the CPU is faulty. (my mind)

Rebuild the initramfs, perhaps that’s your issue.
open konsole : sudo dracut-rebuild reboot and ?

If it’s not resolved with this step, try with another kernel and then ?

think on the performence modes inside your system
Don´t use ananicy + gamemode together (my mind)

Lenovo bios update = *.exe file ..not a real problem or ?

I overlooked the missing Download
I never bothered to check whether flashing with a USB stick also works.
And never used

LENOVO 82MS

I have to admit that I only have M$ for the BIOS update on the Lenovos.

If you know how..it’s simple
bootable usb stick with free dos
handmade M$ win to go usb stick with rufus. (over wine without M$)
but acer and lenovo is this equal, although there are linux users.

Most of the problems occur with hybrid mode and nvidia-{suspend-then-hibernate,persistenced,powerd}.service (another issue). I’m now using direct discrete GPU connection and not enabling these services, and it seems to be working fine now. Regardless, I need to find some time to upgrade the BIOS.

That’s my opinion too.

There are more clocksource issues in the journal, among others:

[Firmware Bug]: TSC ADJUST: CPU0: -6205767755 force to 0

And the way I see it, the current version 6.14.7-zen2-1-zen of the Zen kernel causes several different issues.

You can try to set tsc=unstable as kernel parameter or you can downgrade linux-zen to the previous version as a test. If this does not help, then:

For a BIOS update you can also use Hiren’s BootCD, for example.

There:

The three things belong together, that’s a block.

I just upgraded to the latest BIOS version. For me, the most stable kernel is linux-lts 6.6.72. Ever since upgrading to linux-lts 6.12.x, everything has been abnormal, so I chose linux-zen

same

5月 28 19:55:57 linux kernel: [Firmware Bug]: TSC ADJUST: CPU0: -4808709169 force to 0

I updated the bios and tried it for a while to see if it was stable. The only problem I had was:

Ignore the error message for the time being and check whether you can eliminate these error messages

with one of the suggestions made so far.

Probably because the kernel branch does not match the nvida driver version. Therefore you should use the nvidia-lts drivers for the linux-lts kernel.

Nvidia + sleep/suspend/hibernate…a never ending story. :sob:

Definitely an nvidia driver issue.

Check your dmesg…looks like a typical “GPU has fallen off the bus” issue… :face_with_monocle:

You should also try to install the nvidia open drivers for the GPU (linux-lts + nvidia-open-lts or linux-zen + nvidia-open-dkms).

Since the nvidia issues obviously have nothing to do with the actual topic, you should open a separate topic if these tips do not help you.

ONE issue per topic please.

I have tried these operations in ArchLinux, but the results are not satisfactory.

For laptops, either use only the integrated graphics card or only the independent graphics card. This is the most stable method.

Anyway, thanks for your help
