The interface does not work after minimizing the game

Hello Garuda users & devs!

I have Garuda KDE Dr460nized installed. I really like this distro, but I have one serious (just for me) problem.

My hobby is writing game plugins for the old Counter-Strike 1.6 game. I run this game with Proton. (Steam version and standalone version, called PortProton). I often have to minimize the game to test it.

And the problem is that sometimes, after minimizing the game, the system interface becomes broken. The game window becomes small and black - there is no picture. Window switching (alt+tab), switching between applications in Latte Dock does not work.
Even if I manage to launch the terminal or the system monitor and close the game process, the problem remains. Only rebooting the PC helps.

You might think it's only because of proton. BUT. I usually use VLC as a video player, but a few times I had to use MPV.
And once I ran into exactly the same problem when minimizing (or exiting full screen mode) a full screen MPV!

I am willing to provide the necessary information if needed.

I hope for your help, I really do not want to install another distro.

Hi there, welcome to the forum.
When it happens check in the system settings the status of the compositor, and if offered to reset it, go for it.
And, in general, you can enable / disable the compositor on the fly with alt+shift+F12.

Sorry, but where I can find it?

Just an idea, whoogle it

Ah, you're right. I'm a little confused by the fact that in my localization this item literally means "Provision of effects".
So, I turned them off and will monitor the system's behavior

I haven’t figured out where I’m supposed to see this, but visually I see that the effects are disabled when game is open.

I disabled the “Allow applications to block mode with graphical effects” checkbox in compositor settings, and that seems to have solved the problem.
