Aha! I was able to fix it by running sudo btrfs check --repair /dev/nvme0n1p1 from the live USB.
I found the solution in this thread.
Are there any maintenance items I should do to prevent this from happening again? The above linked thread mentioned some, but I think they were all related to what the OP was trying to do when the issue happened. Again, I’m no expert.
