System hangs after login

Hello there, I just installed Garuda Linux KDE Dr460nized and the process went well. The system boots and loads normally until the login screen. I can type my username and password and when I press ENTER the screen turns black with a text cursor in the upper-left corner, that is static and is not blinking. It seems that the whole system hangs at this point. Nothing but a hard reset of the entire computer can bring it out this state.

Here are my hardware specs:

  • MB: ASUS Maximus XI Formula
  • CPU: Core i9 9900K
  • GPU: GeForce RTX 2070

I will appreciate any help and ideas how to solve this problem.

Is it possible that you used an old ISO which installs Wayland session and used plasma-wayland to login?

Also, get journal error messages from TTY.

  • When at Login screen, press Ctrl+Alt+F3 to get to a TTY console
  • Run
journalctl -p3

and inspect the messages.

Thanks for the replies.
I downloaded a new ISO file and install the system from it. Now it is working like a charm.
