System broken on wifi drivers rtw88-dkms-git

Hello, recently only working drivers for my laptop stop upgrading. Now when I install rtw88-dkms-git my system is broken. On lts kernel I got freeze after few minutes working and on zen kenrel wifi stop working and apps stop to launch. It’s possible to install some old version of rtw88-fixed-dkms-git drivers?

That are full diagnostics from Rani:

Regards

Last logs when system freeze when I start Pika backup:

You should always post a link to any prior help request you’ve made, if your current help request is directly related to an old one.

Your old thread:

As before, I have moved this thread to the Networking sub-fora where it belongs. Please post any networking help requests in the “Networking” sub-forum in the future.

I have no idea why your system would freeze when doing a backup using Gnome/Pika. I have been a KDE user for 20+ years, I have next to no experience using Gnome. I would suggest you investigate this error:

As far as your wireless issue goes, I would have to fall back to what I stated on your last thread. When Realtek WiFi drivers break, the usual fix is to switch to using the lts kernel. At some point in the future the mainline or Linux kernels should resume working with your Realtek WiFi driver.

I gave you a lot of suggestions on my post that you marked as your fix on your last wifi thread. You did not really report on which suggestions of mine you implemented on that thread that contributed to your fix.

You would need to provide the terminal output of any/all changes you made to any grub or network configuration file(s) via the cat command so that we can view your current configuration.

You need to test your WiFi driver on the lts kernel (again), making sure you implemented the fixes correctly that I listed on your last WiFi help request. You also need to test the mainline kernel. For the best chance of getting your WiFi driver working correctly you should test numerous alternate kernels. If you insist on using the zen kernel or another kernel that is currently incompatible with your Realtek WiFi driver, then I would suggest that you probably should buy another WiFi adapter. Look to buy a WiFi adapter that has better in-kernel driver support. Unfortunately, the Realtek WiFi model you are currently using has been problematic in Linux for quite some time.

Don´t know if it would help, but there is maybe another driver in AUR.

aur/rtl88x2ce-dkms-git r50.eb2fff0-1
    Realtek RTL8822CE WLAN GNU/Linux Driver

That repository doesn’t look like it’s been updated in quite some time. Last AUR comment from Feb 25 says it broken on recent kernels.

Anything’s possible though, you never know.

Edit:

I do not own a Realtek RTL8822CE wifi adapter, so I have absolutely no way of testing to see if it’s possible to get that driver working with your WiFi adapter. Only someone who actually owns a Realtek RTL8822CE WiFi adapter can possibly perform the experiments required to answer that question.

Read the Archwiki entries on downgrading packages if you want to test older unofficial drivers. Be aware however, that Arch Linux does not support partial upgrades. Do your own research if this is the method you wish to attempt to follow.

@MarianKoniuszko, You linked your garuda-inxi via our PrivateBin, so there were some things I did not immediately notice. We prefer that the user’s garuda-inxi information is included directly in your opening post for this reason, so that it is easily visible for easier reference when rendering assistance.

Some things from your inxi that could use clarification:

wlp1s0 state: up

Is your wifi in actuality functioning correctly on any kernel?

If so, on which kernel is your WiFi driver functioning?

Your inxi output indicates state: up which indicates your WiFi is working.

On your prior help request thread I asked you to add a kernel boot parameter and a wifi driver parameter configuration file.

Your garuda-inxi output is clearly missing the kernel boot parameter I asked you to add on your last help request.

parameters: BOOT_IMAGE=/@/boot/vmlinuz-linux-zen
    root=UUID=417f187a-a42b-44a5-b6b3-c27517119ed0 rw rootflags=subvol=@ quiet quiet
    rd.udev.log_priority=3 vt.global_cursor_default=0
    resume=UUID=8f7c97f0-2758-4001-95b0-57f15fb14228 loglevel=3 ibt=off

This makes me wonder what other suggestions I made that were not implemented.

Please confirm with the following command output that you did in fact create the WiFi driver parameter configuration file correctly:

cat  /etc/modprobe.d/rtl8822ce.conf

Your inxi output indicates your system has an outdated bios version known by your manufacturer to cause crashes:

HUAWEI v: 1.06 date: 09/14/2020

I would highly recommend updating your system’s bios to your manufacturers most up to date version.

Your inxi network info contains the following lines:

IF-ID-1: docker0 state: down mac:
IF-ID-2: tailscale0 state: unknown speed: -1 duplex: full mac: N/A

Are you attempting to operate your WiFi via a docker container or though a VPN?

The above inxi outputs are not normal. Could you please provide further information as to why these outputs are present.

Are you running a firewall?

If so, please provide details.

Please respond to all queries in full detail, simple yes or no replies are generally insufficient if you wish forum assistants to volunteer their time to help you correct your issue.
