I use sxhkd to change the brightness of my keyboard and display, I only used my hdimi display for a while, and now the backlight folder is empty, anyone now what caused this and how to fix it? I use Garuda on a 2012 Macbook Pro.
I will post garuda-inxi when I get the chance

The brightness does seem to change depending if it's turned on with the lid open or closed.
are you sure it's caused by that arandr change? Is it reproducible? Have you tried xrandr --listmonitors
? Anything of interest in dmesg? What if you try to set the brightness via xrandr --brightness
?
While writing this I noticed that my brightness folder is also empty, are you sure there was a file in there before?

I'm not sure if it was caused by arandr, and there was definitley a file there before, as xbacklight and gbacklight both worked a while ago. xrandr -brightness just changes gamma, not backlight.

That's not how we keep help requests open.
Instead, we note what you have tried and what you have not. And references. We don't "bump" threads. We are not going to solve your problem. Instead we will help you find the solution, but the onus is on you to help us help you. So it is incumbent on you feeding us the information that may help.
Plus, we don't like to research anything you might have already tried--what worked and what did not. So give us your sources, please.

I found that whenever I use sudo find /sys/ -type f -iname '*brightness*'
on the Garuda install, there is no 0000:02 directory, unlike an Arch live usb, which does have this directory. Imgur link Imgur: The magic of the Internet

I've also noticed that whenever I run sudo dmesg
there is a section that says [ 1.705708] i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] Skipping intel_backlight registration
this may be related.
I searched for Skipping intel_backlight registration dmesg and found this link which says to add acpi_backlight=native
to my grub boot options, which solved my problem.
