Synfig Studio SIGSEGV

Hello

I’ve installed synfigstudio (currently 1.4.5-1) from the official repository but have troubles getting it to run. The application simply terminated with a SIGSEGV.

Sadly there also isn’t a lot of info in the log, besides synfig not finding mod_libavcodec.

Looks bad for you: synfigstudio, synfigstudio-git, synfigstudio-dev and the flatpak version of synfigstudio do not work - neither on Garuda, nor on EnOS nor on KDE neon (all KDE/QT). Possibly the reason for this is that it is a GTK application.

You can ignore this warning, it has nothing to do with the crash:

The only way to start the application w/o issues is with sudo rights:

sudo synfigstudio

Edit: The cause is wayland. :person_facepalming:
Switch to an x11 session, then it works. :smiley:
