Please, is there any possibility to switch off? I tried everything and finally crashed the system. Now is repaired again and I will rather ask here - it should be safer.
Thank you very much.

You can disable it in the game?
I am not sure what exactly you are asking here. If you use mangohud or Gooverlay, check if there is not persistently enabled.
No, game - for example Counter strike 1.6 - is not reacting … I am asking how to make system set so the vsync is off… KDE setting, X11 setting or whatever else…
Once again,
Vsync is a setting per game run per game, the system by default doesn’t run VSYNC. So its on the game you use to disable Vsync there.
On linux if you want to control Vsync globally across games, it can be done via MangoHUD or Gooverlay that uses MangoHUD. However this will not control the VSYNC in game, it needs to be still disabled there as well.
Not sure if this might help?
okay that is new to me . i never have trouble with CS 1.6 its a old game . =)
And that’s how it should be. CS1.6 doesn’t have that option in-build in its menu.
It can be disabled via console command gl_vsync 0
for CS 1.6
Try adding vblank_mode=0 to your launch options or setting __GL_SYNC_TO_VBLANK=0 if you’re using an NVIDIA card. Also, check your compositor settings, turning it off might help.
Yeah its a very old game for me and s hould be run without issues on newer systems =) ive installed from CD iso backup with PlayonLinux and it runs without problems.
I dont know there a people have trouble with the steam version too if i checked steam forum game.
here steam with some issue .
This I tried many times, result > fps 60, no change
This I tried first time, result > fps 60, no change
Thank you, it makes me more tempted to switch back to Windows and play it on Windows, where it works without any problems. I want to play free version.
did you trying this?
To set a Steam game to run at 60 FPS, you can adjust the game’s launch options in Steam. Here’s how you can do it:
-fps_max 60
in the “Launch Options” box to limit the game’s frame rate to 60 FPS.i did not try but found this here.
it says first for apt-get install its for debian variants but its also a archlinux folder may for use makepkg.
If you disable Vsync you need to unlock the FPS. CS 1.6 has set 60fps per default. You need to increase the value via commandline in the game or as a steam parameter.
maybe you have any steam bug from their updates . maybe you can try to activate or enable Overlay or add this to the launch parameters.
add this:
LD_PRELOAD="" %COMMAND%
to your launch options in steam.
Hello guys, i have no Steam. I am playing Windows free version.
If you dont play thru Steam, CS 1.6 has a game console. Open it in a game, and execute commands there.
Its opened with the «~» key.
Also I advice to check on CS 1.6 related forums, on how to disable VSYNC and unlock FPS for the game via the console menu. Heinrikur above posted some already so start with those and then check Steam discussions for CS1.6 which are accessible from internet.
