Should AI-generated help requests always be moved to section #400 by default?

I find it tiring to have to read through pages and pages of text.

***If the AI can’t solve the problem, I don’t need an AI request in a technical forum

To whom are you asking this question? It’s difficult to answer.

I agree with you about reading these texts.
On the other hand, some users can’t describe their problem properly. This usually requires the person helping to ask a few follow-up questions. AI requests are usually clearly structured so the issue becomes clear quickly.
But, to be honest, I always have to force myself to read the whole AI sermon.

It’s difficult to answer and difficult to decide. Perhaps the most helpful users should decide about it.

Personally, I find it the epitome of laziness that some users can’t even ask their own questions and are relying on an AI to formulate their query.

Unfortunately, as time marches on it becomes far more difficult to automatically say what is AI generated text. I think it should simply be understood that it is our forum’s policy that we do not appreciate any AI generated text in the “Issues and Assistance” section of the Garuda forum.

People will continually disregard our forums wishes, because society as a whole has become progressively lazier as technology has replaced the need to do many daily tasks. It’s not going to get better any time soon.

I think we can expect that as AI becomes more advanced, most people won’t be capable of doing what used to be considered basic daily tasks any more. We can do our best to fight this downward progression, but I fear it is a lost cause.

I would, as I find it a pain to read. I mainly just ignore the post.
To me if you can’t just ask a question and explain what the issue is. the person asking. I get using it to translate but google/libre translate does fine there to non Asian languages.

For me I think it being:
X is not working.
Here’s what I tried “if they tried something”
garuda-inxi

If needed at the end

ai slop

Yes, today’s generation seems to rely on AI for answers. A little thought and searching can resolve most issues. It’s the same as not posting garuda-inxi

Yes. I rather not have to have to go through yet another hoop to try to help people or to fix a post. I would suggest maybe a poll over this if you are still unsure. (Maybe in a place with some kind of TL [Trust Level] to avoid new users flooding it)

If I fix a post with formatting or whatever like that, a human can learn from that but an AI can’t really. (It just fills the post with so much extra garbage as it is). That also means a human that keeps using AI will also have the same nonsense show up in posts thereafter.

I feel it also discourages support as it is going through something else first… In other words “let me check with my AI on this first” kind of feel. (Although most of the time the AI is to blame for most topics with poor suggestions that wreaked the users’ systems). Feels to me like those kind of interactions will go nowhere fast and most likely only make things worse.
Just like with the formatting help, the AI and the person asking for help will probably not learn from it if they keep turning to the AI for everything.

For me it is on the same level as writing on the forum in capital letters.

In the early days of forums, people who didn’t read the rules would write in all caps for whatever reason: carelessness, they think it will make that person’s post stand out, whatever.

To those people, this was brought to their attention, and as time went on, and nowadays, few people do it. Really few people.

We’re not here to educate people, but it’s simple, if it’s a forum rule, then it should be followed, full stop. It’s not like you have to burn the user in the town square, just tell them and that’s it.

In our forum: what you say @sgs ; send it to #400.

In a quick thought I would have said that reply that person back with AI prompts but it will add extra garbage nothing else to server , utlimately harming the real and genuin forum users because they have to deal with much more trash , and server itself will get filled up with this .

I would rather say to add a notice of AI generated replies in forums are not accepted, and will lead to (some kind of client 4xx thing ) your thread completely getting deleted from the forum

Well, whatever descision will be taken there is always a sectoin of users which won’t be happy , so it is good to take a wise descision , i.e. just delete these contents completely form server , no need to make real users of forum get struggled because of searches suggesting these garbages , neither needed to keep this garabge on server for no reason .

Well, that’s all the opinion from my side… :slightly_smiling_face:
