Suddenly unable to use amdgpu -- missing from glx

Hi, this issue is happening after a full system upgrade, seemed to happen out of the blue.

Previous thread:

The issue more specificially is that somehow I seem to have lost contact or something with my AMD 7900 XT. I can tell because when I login there is that KDE pink icon and when you click it, it displays:

garuda-inxi as well as glxinfo:

Don’t know if this is expected, but lspci does detect both the dedicated GPU and the Integrated:

[[]|[🔴]] => 🔴ERROR × lspci -k | grep 'VGA'
03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Navi 31 [Radeon RX 7900 XT/7900 XTX/7900M] (rev cc)

Any more help would be greatly appreciated. I’m considering doing a VFIO GPU passthrough to windows if I can’t get this one fixed since I am teh gamer at heart :frowning:

Make sure to reboot after updating so you can use the latest kernel version.

Dang, I was hoping my ignorance would of solved that one but, nope :(.

Same results. Is there a better command I can run that could help troubleshoot this father?

If this helps at all, a common error I see is in regards to LLVM, as I may have mentioned before, I did rebuild it once before:

libEGL warning: MESA-LOADER: failed to open swrast: libLLVM-16.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory (search paths /usr/lib/dri, suffix _dri)

Old but very similar errors:
[Resolved] mesa-loader failed to load drivers / Newbie Corner / Arch Linux Forums
says “resolved by resintalling llvm” – no idea if that does the trick or not

If you rebuilt it you have the git version of the package, so probably now you have libLLVM-18.so.
Maybe you could try installing the non -git version of llvm. Or install the -git version of the packages depending on llvm.

thanks filo!

That led me down to the road to seemingly easily solving this!

I had searched through yay for llvm-libs, and noticed that you’re right the -git version was now installed.

upon trying to install the non git version, it said it broke vulkan-radeon-git

so i installed the non git of that, vulkan-radeon

llvm-libs then installed fine, and upon reboot, everything is back to normal! thanks everyone
