i have sought support or this issue before, and some suggestion were given which have not worked.

When i suspend and re-awake my computer it does not wake up but freezes the system. It must have to do with my 4080 graphic card, for with a RX 7900 XTX suspend works fine.

i have tried compatibility mode, S5 and S4 & S5 suspend states on my Asrock motherboard, without any difference.

When i first installed Garuda i could suspend fine, i found out by accident, but after the initial update is loaded, after a reboot, the problems started. (i use the November 2023 installation version from this site.)

any idea how i could fix this?

Thanks

Please!

Probably so. Try enabling the save/restore of video memory contents as described here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA/Tips_and_tricks#Preserve_video_memory_after_suspend

You can use the kernel module parameter with any of the options described here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kernel_module#Setting_module_options. For example, to use a file in /etc/modprobe.d/ first make the file:

sudo micro /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-preserve-video-memory.conf

Add the parameter:

options nvidia NVreg_PreserveVideoMemoryAllocations=1

Save and exit the file.

Don’t forget to enable the services mentioned in the first article:

sudo systemctl enable nvidia-suspend.service
sudo systemctl enable nvidia-hibernate.service
sudo systemctl enable nvidia-resume.service

Reboot, then test again.

If that doesn’t help, check your logs to see if you have errors that look like the ones mentioned in this article: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA/Troubleshooting#System_does_not_return_from_suspend. If so, try setting that kernel parameter to see if it helps.

Thanks a million that solved the problem.

Sorry, i will try and keep that in mind.
