Steam is extremely slow at downloading my titles. My PC is hardwired on ethernet (I’ve tried using wifi to see if that was maybe doing something but same issues) to my router and on Windows I can download a 10 gb title in 5 minutes or less, on Garuda it takes literal 2-3 hours to download the same title (I’ve checked my internet speeds using OOkla and I get 20 upload and 500 download on linux so it’s not a driver thing I think?). I’ve tried everything I could think of:
I thought at first it was a drive issue so I tried using a ext4 freshly formatted drive, using an nvme drive, then just started checking if my downloads are rate limited in steam, reinstalling dnsmasq, changing the port dnsmasq uses, “unmasking” dnsmasq which I was more just following steps online, using network manager since someone suggested that would solve it after a reboot, etc but literally nothing is working.
It’s so annoying that just starting Borderlands 2 and trying to download the inital Vulkan Shaders took me 2 hours! I have gigabit please I am begging someone knows what is going on because outside of this, everything works amazingly and I really don’t want to give back in and switch to windows for such a stupid issue.
( I’m a bit of a newbie when it comes to using linux, I know package managers or how install tars and what not but past that I get kind of lost )
