So it appears steam is crashing again, it fixed after using the steam beta update. Although, when they released the fix to the stable branch of steam it went pear shaped again, i manage to get some use out if the clients, sometimes it can run for 10-15 before crashing, sometimes it crashes instantly, it renders boxes for the content but content appears black and then crashes. Any ideas guys, i thought everything was solid, I have tried jumping back to the beta branch and have just as much success as the stable, I have also tried both native and runtime clients to see if theres a difference, unfortunately no luck, I have tried using the linux-tkg-bmq kernel, no change.
Any help would be muchly appreciated guys, i have tried a few other distros such as manjaro just to check if this is a isolated case, manjaro works, appears just this distro gets stuck.

I haven’t ran it in terminal before besides trying flatpak (flatpak runs no problems)
Have a cmd handy there? (I’m still learning linux)

Steam doesnt crash if i launch with terminal, but then it runs into issues installing games
The Flatpak version will bundle its own libraries. Are you running steam
or steam-native
?
May or may not be related, but you can add en_US.UTF-8 to your list of locales in /etc/locale.gen
and then run localegen
. Many applications assume it’s present (which is annoying, but… ).
This means the launcher is running a different command. Check what the difference is.
I don’t even know where to begin with that one.
I shall go through and try what you have stated, as for what version I am running, I’m using what is bundled inside of the gaming edition of the dragonized, tried both native and runtime with no luck, unless using terminal, last time this issue was happening it was due to that web view bug that happened due to a updated package, but that’s been patched via steam at least 2 weeks ago, ideally I don’t want to install and use flatpak version, just my preference, but will get back to you shortly with my findings
So went through the post, tried everything mentioned and no luck, tried both launchers, the only thing that remains the same is that it will not crash if i run using the terminal, but then as mentioned before it runs into issues installing games, only thing i could possibly be a issue is the libdbusmenu-glib warning.
Any other ideas guys, because im running out of ideas
So you compared the desktop launcher commands? What’s the difference?
Do you get the same warning about locale now you added en_US.UTF-8 to your system?
Are you going to provide any more information than “it doesn’t work”?

Difference between launcher and terminal launching is just the %U variable, which is to do with client updates from what i could see, tried desktop launching without it, same issue, as for locale it didn’t make a difference besides not spit out the warnings, the errors i get when installing games is that it can’t write to disk, which to me is a storage issue, but i have 350gb+ of storage still on that partition (I have a windows partition for work

Maybe deleting some old timeshift snapshots + full btrfs balance + reboot could help.
This sounds like a permissions issue, and I’m going to guess that you ran Steam with sudo at some point (because why not, right?).
Make sure your user’s files are owned by your user with:
sudo chown -R $USER: $HOME

I deleted all my time shifts, rebalanced and rebooted, no luck
Funny thing is I did actually try run steam in terminal as sudo, but steam doesn’t actually let you run there application with sudo, probably to stop it from breaking something, it still can’t write games to the disk after running the chown command
Starting to think this problem is looking unfixable, but strange that this is the only OS and variation of steam that has issues with my pc currently (flatpak works) surely I can’t be the only person on Garuda with this steam issue, if there’s any other ideas, I’m al ears guys
This means there’s a different issue, for example you’re trying to write to a Windows disk that’s mounted read-only.
You’re going to have to do some research yourself. People can’t just keep throwing mud and hoping something sticks.
