Startpage or Whoogle as a default search engine in Firefox

It's pretty annoying to see google, bing and yandex as my default search engines on the fresh installation, and these two engines are both privacy-aware and user-friendly. I would enjoy seeing them every time when I replace them with searx.

Thats a pretty good suggestion! Afaik Firefox doesnt allow setting this easily by default however shipping the startpage addon might do the trick?

We could cince GNU icecat is shipping instead of firefox in next release so maybe then we could.

I ran the terminal commands for whoogle via manual install. It works. When I exit terminal, whoogle no longer functions. I know that using whoogle with the manual install method requires terminal to continue running in the background.

After I had whoogle open on Firefox, I added it as a search engine.

Do I have to enter these manual setup terminal commands every time I want to use whoogle?

Also, the address bar has a lock icon that says site is not secure. Is this normal?

Thank you,

The one from its Github? This requires to create & enable a systemd service for constant service.
You can just install whoogle-git and be done with it

As its running on localhost we dont need HTTPs
