Sometimes sound works, sometimes completely mute

Many times, no sound comes from pc. Sometimes sound works perfectly fine, and sometimes completely mute. I tried ( pulseaudio -k & pulseaudio -D) and it just said: "pulseaudio may be found in the following packages:
extra/pulseaudio 15.0-1 /usr/bin/pulseaudio".

I'm a newbie. Plz, help.
